As I'm Posting

As I'm posting, I'm hearing sniffing behind me.
I ask Andrew and his cousin, "Who is that sniffing?"
Meredith answers, "Me. I'm just getting the booger back in there."

Playing House

Andrew and Meredith are at it again. Here are some excerpts from their game of house:

M: You’ve got to go now. You’re late.

A: Okay.

M: I’ll take care of the kid.

A: (playing basketball) I’m just playing by myself to get exercise.

M: (Scoots “the kid” around on a scooter)

A: (returning home) Oh! She learned how to ride a motorcycle?!

M: Oh, let’s put her to school. You will have to get her.

A: Yeah, I’ll get her. You can stay home. This snake has to go to school too.

M: Okay. We’ll walk you to school. There’s another snake you could play with.

A: The school door is still open, but that’s okay because all the bugs are dead so they won’t get in.

M: Now we can pick up our daughter.

A: Yeah, all our kids we can pick up. I said you can stay home. (She stays while he goes)

M: Come on home. Home, Dear, home.

A: (Andrew jumps on the wooden horse with Meredith) I have to be in front. Boys have to be in front.

M: That’s not the front. This is, see? (It’s true. Andrew is facing the tail.)

A: Well, we have to go backwards. (Men always have to be right.)

M: Kids, dad is going to basketball so I will put you to sleep.

A: No, I have to put her to sleep. (They fight over the kid)

M: Look, she’s fast asleep.

A: No, she’s not! That’s not her bed. That’s where the bat sleeps. (He might have gotten this from me. I'm forever mixing up the bat bed with the baby bed.)

M: (Sings a lullaby). To Andrew: go to soccerball.

A: No. I don’t go to soccerball. I have to go to sleep. (They each take a couch to sleep on)

M: (Whispers) sweet dreams.

Interesting Imaginations

Here is a word-for-word transcript of Andrew and his cousin Meredith playing:
(Warning: it gets a little disturbing at some points. Don't worry though, we are already saving for future psychological treatment.)

M: We’ve got all the things.

A : Good, let’s knock stuff down.

M: Here are the snow people.

A: I will break down the gas station. I mean, only the gas. There I’m done.

M: Now let’s go up. Can we go, and put all the tied up persons in jail?

A: I’m swinging on the swing. I’ll put one person on the flying swing.

M: Hey! Can I PLEASE break down this metal egg?

A: No, this isn’t a metal egg.

M: What is it?

A: It’s a spider house. Now break it down.

M: Let’s put a mask on so she couldn’t talk.

A: Okay. I’m going to put a mask on her. (Muffled sounds of woman attempting to talk).

M: And they put a mask on all the people.

A: Even the cat? So he can’t say meow?

M: Yeah, and we had a little mask for the little people.

A: Here comes the snapping beetle!! The snapping beetle is coming!!! (Blue clothespin)

M: Feed the snapping beetle the little tiny people.

A: The snapping beetle is the pet.

M : Here, eat this and then drop it in the water (she feeds him a little person). And now we snap this person. And now we will snap all the people, EVEN the snow people, I mean the rainbow people. Snap it, my precious. You are my precious little snapping beetle.
I’ve got the tiniest little mask for the kitten. (Strained meows). Snap her and put her in the water forever! And now they drown!

A : “I’m going to eat this house!”

M : Okay, eat it.

A : Yummy house

M : If you want to eat more, I have this nuther house. And it will be gone for good.

A : What’s that song from? (Referring to a song she’s singing)

M : It’s from your precious mother, and you are my sweet snapper.

A: Yum, a mouse. I ate a mouse.

M: Good. Now can you go home.

A: I am home

M: Well, there’s a problem, we have to let them go.

A: I have to eat them. I have to eat this house down.

M: Well, you can eat the house.

A: This is the snapper’s bedroom right here. And here is the snapper’s friend. (Lightning McQueen)

M: What do you want to do? (Speaking to Lightning)

A: Help. Just help get people out. I’m snapper’s friend. I mean, I’m snapper’s brother. But snapper thinks I’m his friend.
