It's my birthday this week, and it's been just over a year since I started blogging.  So for my present this year, I would love to hear which belligerent post has been your favorite and why.

  2. okay. i cried i laughed so hard on your post about the wilderness birthday party/sledding fiasco. i could just see little bodies flinging everywhere. and it was just so true to living in the valley. and so hilarious how blind we are to the ridiculous dangers of life. i mean, i grew up riding in a car with no seat belts, riding around in the back of pick up trucks on the freeway, playing in the raging back river, swimming across pineview etc. and somehow those things didn't strike my parents as hazards? gah!

i also love all your andrew/meri playtime dialogs, but i don't think you've ever posted anything i didn't find really funny.

and i hope you have a happy birthday!

  3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
Okay, I have a bunch, but a few that stand out right now that I remember are:
    -Christmas Puddles
    -Beauty just isn't Practical
-Andrew and his talk for church on Santa
-And the discussion about flying on the plane for Disney World.

All of them made me laugh out loud and still do!

  4. I love so many of your posts! I particularly remember the Meri/Andrew conversations, maybe just because they were some of your earlier posts. Also liked the Disney World post. And that you thought they slaughtered many elk just to make a welcome bridge thingy. So anyway - keep 'em coming! And Happy Happy Birthday to you on Wednesday!

  5. When I think of your Belligerant Blog I think of the first post that had me laughing till I cried. The one about returning the moldy squished peaches to Costco and how you shielded them with your body from the view of the Costco employee who was looking down his nose at you, even though he was shorter than you. "These peaches did not meet my expectations." I also loved Beauty just isnt Practical--thank you for describing my struggles with grooming!

  6. Jenny! I love every post. You always make my day. I love the posts about Andrew and the funny things he says. The peaches at Costco was one that got me rolling. I was right there with you at the cookie exchange with the Christmas puddles. I've been in that type of situation so many times and know exactly how you felt. Beauty challenged in Yellowstone was so good. I've been there too. You're so good at putting into words in a hysterical manner all your experiences that are all too familiar. Carry on! And happy Birthday!!

  7. I so enjoy all your stories! You have such a quick wit and great humor, I look forward to reading all your posts, even if I am too lazy/busy to comment!

  8. Yeah, they already picked my favorites--anything involving my own kids--mainly Meri. But I also especially like any reference to white trash.

  9. So I think my favorite is the beauty challenged one too. I laughed so hard. I just loved the description of how annoying it is to try to be pretty - of your hair blowing in the wind and getting stuck to your lip gloss. Maybe I should go read it again. I loved it. ANd I remember laughing a lot at all the mouse, skunk and spider stories. I never realized how white trash my sister was living. :-) And HAPPY BIRTHDAY on Wed!!! I'll see you THURS.!!! Hurray!

  10. Here's my first (and maybe last) comment ever. It must be your birthday or something.

My favorites are the "Spanky" blogs and the old White Trash blogs (most of them are from last year). I know it's hard to keep me entertained, but you're doing a great job, so keep it up. :P

  12. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jenny!!!! Honestly there are quite a few that I love, the one that comes to mind was "IT DOES GET BETTER" where Rex slept in the rain for his big run. I also too enjoyed Andrew's talk on Santa :) There are MANY MANY great posts! Happy Birthday!

  13. I'm with Star, I am so glad that you were born too! Happy Birthday! I sure love you, Jenny!

All of them are great! Don't make me choose please!...and please don't be annoyed at me that I don't. I'm just so really bad at decision making... especially picking a favorite out of many greats. Just ask Lee, he hates to go to restaurants with me when I'm hungry and hides under the table when I order because I have to have a full on discussion about each dish and then I still can't decide and either ask for a little of one mixed with a little of another, or have the server choose for me! It's all very annoying, even to myself.

In fact, I'm going to tell you a story, okay, Jenny! A dream of mine was to be able to do taste testing for companies' food products because I like to try new foods and thought I'd be good at it, until last week when I did my first one.

All I had to do is take a bite out of two similar but different slices of pizza and then circle on the paper which one I liked best. I was almost the last tester out of the room, because I couldn't for the life of me pick one! And I left so annoyed! I could tell you how they were different, but better?? I hated the thought that they were going to make company decisions based on my answer (along with many others' answers, but still) and I wasn't even sure if I had circled the one that I liked best! Whatever! Picky eaters are the ones to be taste testers, not someone like me that likes all kinds of tastes!

Hey, at least I got $35 bucks out of the deal!... That almost payed for the trauma to my mind. ;-) (It took me at least an hour of after thought and discussing the ins and outs of the two slices of pizza with Lee and Emily to work out whether I could live with myself and the decision I put down or not - in the end, thank goodness, I think I chose the one I indeed liked best! Phew!).
