Cameras

I'm thinking I want to get a really nice high-end camera for myself for Christmas.  I know I've already asked some of you, but just maybe I forgot so...
If you have a really nice camera, can you remind me what kind of camera you have, or would recommend, including as much info as possible? (like why you like it and what you don't like about it, and what you would buy now, and where you would buy it and....)

Oh, you are the best!

  1. i heart my canon rebel. cheap-ish, really user friendly, all extra lenses will convert should i ever upgrade to a nicer canon (this is not true with all nikons, so you have to check before you buy.) my experience (limited) is that it's better to invest your money in nice lenses and a more affordable camera. my cheaper rebel with a sweet 50mm lens can do anything i want it to at this point. colors are a bit cold (nikon is warmer) so i usually have to warm my pictures up a bit in photoshop, but i'm always in there anyway, so... good luck! so excited for you, you will NEVER regret investing in a nice camera. go borrow wendy's nikon and see how you like it and then get your hands on some canons and see what feels better in your hands.

  2. hey this is a very informative post! i am also "hoping" to get a NICE camera this year. i'm tired of seeing everyone else's awesome pics, and since i know my way around photoshop a little bit, it could be a good thing. i just need to take a class to learn how to use a camera like that in manual mode.

  3. well, mine is for the professional range and in the several thousand dollar range, but I HEART is. It's a Nikon D700. However, I'm still partial to film and my Nikon D100 and D5 can't be beat!!!

  5. I swear by Nikons. They take the best photos. I have a little coolpix that I carry in my purse. I also have a D60 that I LOVE!!! I got it at costco 2 yrs ago, it came with 2 lenses, which is really all I need for what I do. I would love to have a d90 or d3000....someday.

  6. I love my Nikon D5000 because it also has HD video and so it's a two for one. Have to get nice lenses though...it's all about the lenses. Also check out Costco's warranty before getting it somewhere else. It's nice to not buy the newest model so you can save tons of mulah...
